At the Restaurant

This incident took place while I was working at Chennai, no, I was on my notice period of resignation so not sure if the term working is applicable. It was me and my friend who resigned and so thought of taking some of our friends for a treat (We just go on having treats for everything, even if u get cold, u ought to give a treat, silly eh). We both were waiting in front of the restaurant and the other two did not arrive. We did not have money in hand, Since we use our ATM cards for most of our payments, and that was the time when extra fee was charged for transactions while using other ATM's. Ours was Axis bank’s and that was at a distance. We thought we could make the safer side and so we went to the cashier of the restaurant and enquired him if they do accept cards, and he readily nodded his head. The thought of being relieved from walking to the ATM centre kept us both happy. A little later both our friends appeared. We had a chat and one of them asked

Leksh: What r u going to get us?

Me: We are all going to have gud food and in the end u both will grind flour (in tamil itz mavarakka pooreenga) to repay the amount J

We entered the restaurant, the four of us made sure to order different dishes so that we get the taste of all those and ate heartily. The bill came and since it was using the card,my friend went with hers to the cashier and he swiped and said not working. She sighed me to go over there and I went and she told her card was not working. I offered mine and he said the same,we both were confused. I had another card with me which I had used only once or twice in situations of emergency, gave him that and he again swiped and said “not working”. By this time most of the people were eyeing on us as if we were people who are cheaters, people are always good in passing sarcastic looks!

Just then one person came, someone who works there and said, the machine doesn’t work from 3.00 in the eve, we felt like errr….So somehow the money should be paid, we went to the nearest ATM centre, but it was out of money, and at a distance was another one and that was out of service, so we thought of going to Axis Bank’s centre and we were half running all the way coz two of them who came for the treat are at the restaurant, it was as u see in films, we go wid the money to release them, eventhough not actually, not all people are rude.
Infront of the ATM was a long queue and we waited impatiently for our turn, got the money and were out, when the security there called us. We both were wondering why on hell did he call us while we were already late, he gave us an ATM card, u know what, my friend left her card in the machine itself in the hurry. We thanked him and were on our way back, reached the restaurant, paid the bill and literally speaking released our friends and were back.

Leksh: I thought u ppl were jokin, but didn’t ever think this would happen

I would never forget that day, it was much annoying, the whole evening got spoiled, our tensions, the half run, the looks and all it was a very hectic evening, but today we would laugh over this remembering each and every second, how our expressions were throughout the whole evening.
