The Ghost

This was a very scary incident that happened during college days. I and my classmates along with two of our lady lecturers had gone to attend a workshop on Bioinformatics at Alagappa University. It was a three day workshop and we reached early at 6’o clock on day one. Since that was a three day workshop we were made to stay at their study centre. This study centre itself was an isolated building and when we arrived there, it was just classrooms that they made us stay in and there was no water and we were already grudging over that and had a row with the coordinators since they had charged extra for the accommodation.

We dressed and started for the inauguration function and found that we were the only other collegers staying at the study centre. After the workshop, there was an entertainment program and it took until 8 pm and then had the dinner arranged there. We all walked back to the accommodation. Now we were given 3 classrooms, one was occupied by our staffs and we split into a group of 6 and occupied the other two rooms in-between us, and these three rooms were at different corners on the first floor, u can’t even see the other room from one.

It was around 10:30, and we started chatting mostly gossips and fun, mocking the people we met in the morning and so on. Suddenly we heard a knock on the door, and my friend asked who that was, there was no reply and there was a knock again. We had a window next to the door and if we peep outside we can find who knocks, so I and my friend climbed the window and peeped down but didn’t find anyone, no one even in the corridor.

Then we heard the knock again, this time we decided to open the door, and I and two of my classmates went out, but couldn’t find anyone. There was a stairway next to our room and we started making our way to that, and suddenly we started seeing a shadow and it was emerging towards us, and from the shadow we could make out it was a gigantic figure and it was walking stealthily towards us. We got scared went inside and locked the door, I and my friend climbed the window again but we couldn’t find anyone and while we were still there we heard the knock. All got scared and then didn’t know what to do and some people came up with stories of ghosts, isolated place, knocks, no one seen and so on.
I am ashamed to say but I am too scared (even now I wake my husband at night if I need to go to the loo). I felt like fainting, my parents faces flashed before my eyes, my friend got nervous seeing my condition and the I gathered strength and called our staff with us, she came before our door within minutes with the students on the other room and we all scared narrated the story.

They were hearing it seriously and I found a smile break out from one of my friend’s lips, I stared at her, she then started laughing and yes it was all their pranks. These girls were making their way to our room since they felt bored and finding the room locked from inside, they tried this prank. First started as a play then went seriously, two of them crawled and knocked the door so that we would not see them even if we peep from the window, and for the shadow, as there was a zero watt bulb down the stairway the shadow of the two emerged giving a gigantic look. That night went so on, first all were angry on those 6, now we laugh at this incident.
